We invite members to talk about something special from their collection. Maybe you could talk about something that got away at an auction? … and let the group know to keep an eye open in case another opportunity comes along. You could talk about just one item or a group of items. This could be something you picked up recently or maybe it was your first piece. We would love to know more about what you collect. Each presenter can talk for 5 to 10 minutes about their favorite horological item. We would like each person to supply 2 to 4 images (JPEG format is best) so that we can project the images during your talk. Please contact us to arrange to talk at the September meeting. We would like to see some new faces at this year’s presentation. \nWe are also looking for a member with a laptop computer who is willing to handle projecting the images on the day of the meeting. DESCRIPTION:I’m happy to report that the first clock event of the COVID world is happening – the Minnesota Clockmaker’s Guild will be meeting in August! \n  \nMCG Members\, \nIt has been an extremely long time without any MCG meetings because of the corona-19 virus.\nRecently\, I was notified that The Pavilion\, is now open for meetings with up to 20 people per room\, which should be adequate for us.\nI sent out a notice to the Advisors and the majority responded favorably to setting up an August\, MCG Meeting.\n\nMeeting details will be as follows:\nMasks are REQUIRED and hand sanitizer available upon entering the building.\nIf you feel ill or have been ill\, DO NOT ATTEND!\nIf you have a fever\, DO NOT ATTEND!\nIf you have compromised health or immune conditions and are concerned about contracting the virus\, DO NOT ATTEND!\n\n\nMinnesota Clockmakers Guild Meeting\n\nDATE: August 6\, 2020\n\nTIME: 7:00 pm\n\nLOCATION: Hopkins Pavilion\n(Room #101\, first floor next to office)\n11000 Excelsior Blvd.\nHopkins\, MN 55343\n\nPROGRAM: There will not be any special program\, this will just be an opportunity for us to get together and talk\, live\, about what you have been doing during this stay-at-home time. DESCRIPTION:94rd annual conference \nLOCATION: Mendota VFW\, 1323 Sibley Memorial Highway\, Mendota\, MN 55150 \n12 Noon start registration \nSPEAKERS : \n12:30  Open Round Table consortium of Hair Spring workers\, teachers\, practitioners.  Three former WOSTEP instructors\, hopefully Mahlon L Shetler with discussions of the history\, and beginnings of hairsprings\, adjustments\, pinning\, straightening\, vibrating\, and all things hairsprings.  Bring your problems\, troubles and questions. \nSaturday the round table continues Sauturday May 9th to finish up anything else that we haven’t covered yet. \nFurnished lunch from Teressa’s Mexican\, and annual Yearly meeting \nAfternoon we have the presentations and judging of the 2nd Horological competition. \n2nd Horological competition is open to any member (you can sign up at the door for $25).  The object is to have made any form of horological item since 2 years ago( the first competition).  Home made clocks\, skeleton watches\, minute repeater complications\, rose engine machines\, wooden clocks anything you have made/assembled/altered is eligible.  You will present your item on Saturday afternoon and after all the presentation the attendees will bote on the best item. \nFirst prize is $1\,000 presented by J.B. Hudson.  Second prize of $500 presented by the clockmakers guild.  Third prize of $500 presented by the Midwest watchmakers\, clockmakers association.  We would ask permission of any winners to be able to photograph their winning submission either with or without the winner.
